About Our Program

Campbell University’s Risk Management Institute aims to cultivate the next generation of risk management leaders, providing them with the analytical, problem-solving, communication and business skills needed to succeed in this growing field.

Undergraduate students at Campbell — whether they’re studying business or any other program offered by the University — can study risk management as a concentration. Graduate students can select risk management as part of their MBA curriculum, both in-person and online.

Campbell’s risk management program offers hands-on mentoring from industry veterans, valuable internship opportunities, professional licensing preparation and global exposure through overseas travel programs.

The demand for risk management graduates is high across the country due to a growing need for professionals who can identify, assess and manage risks in a number of areas — finance, health care, technology, government and more. With increasing globalization, complex regulations and the rise of big data, organizations need skilled risk managers to protect their assets and ensure continued success.

There are great opportunities for careers in risk management or the insurance industry. It’s an industry where more than half of the workforce is set to retire in the next few years. You can make a good living, and can truly help people.

Dr. Michelle Osborne, program director and former chief deputy commissioner for the NC Department of Insurance

Housed in Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business, the Risk Management Institute was launched in 2024, joining a long line of unique and relevant majors and initiatives in the School of Business such as trust and wealth management program, the Center for Financial Literacy, student-run investment funds and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program that offers free tax preparation for Harnett County residents.

The program exists, in large part, thanks to a generous grant approved by North Carolina’s General Assembly, just months after one of the largest natural disasters in the state’s history, Hurricane Helene.
